So...I wrote a book. That's not really news anymore, but it actually released thirty days ago! I'm still in awe at the fact that there is a novel out there with MY name on it.
Well, I used to hate writing. Yup...it's true. Maybe I shouldn't be that honest to readers, but I think the most awesome thing about my love for writing is that it came from nowhere! Never...ever...did I imagine I'd sit down and write 97,300 words (and then rewrite them a bazillion times). Really?? There was a time when I couldn't even write a paragraph!!
But, here I am. And I'm blown away by all the love and support I've received in the past month. I knew I had great friends, family, and readers, but there are no words for how much I appreciate all of you.
That being said, though, there are quite a few of you who are new here, so I thought I'd play a little catch-up and fill everyone in on what's gone on in the past 30 days. And for those of you who missed something, hopefully you'll see it down below!
This one was over a month ago, but I thought I'd start here so you'll be ready to read Children of the Forgotten with all the needed info:
A SEARCH FOR BLISS: A PREQUEL TO THE ANISTEMI
In the lead-up to the launch of CotF, I wanted to offer something to everyone who had already begun supporting me. I mean, these people didn't even know if the book was going to be any good, but they had my back! Let me tell you, I'm one blessed guy.
Anyway, I decided to write a short story prequel to #CotF, and I came up with A Search for Bliss. For those of you who have read CotF, you know a little more about this search, but for those of you who haven't, click here to download it for free!
WE MADE A BOOK TRAILER!
By we, I mean myself and a very good friend of mine, Chad, from Clabaugh Media. This guy is one of the most creative people I've ever met and it was an honor to have him work on this with me.
There's so much that goes into something like this, and I never could have done it on my own. Since we were on one of the lowest budgets in the history of ever, Chad had to search the world wide web for scenes that come close to the world in my story. And he did a great job! Once we had those, we chose music and found voices for the characters. One really cool thing about this video is that the female character is voiced by Chad's wife. Now when I read scenes with this character I always hear it in her voice!
I can't say enough about how happy I am with this book trailer. Just...please...watch it!
THEN...THERE WAS NOVEMBER 15th
Children of the Forgotten officially released on this date and I had no idea what to expect. I'm not a marketer...not even close...so I was afraid no one on Earth would even know about it!
But, do you remember when I said that I had great friends, family, and readers? Well, I do. You guys really came through and I've been scrambling to keep up ever since!
And then...these guys came in:
It's the craziest feeling when you can hold your very own novel in your hands. Honestly, during the whole writing process, there were many...MANY times when I wanted to quit.
I wasn't good enough.
The story was stupid.
I have no idea what I'm doing.
But, I remembered that I really don't write for me. And I definitely don't do it because I think I'm going to get rich.
I do it because I love to tell stories. And not just any story, but stories filled with faith.
Because it feels good. It's my time with God. Not only do I get to stand on that mountain top in a made-up land, or ride that winged horse across the sky; I get to do it with HIM.
And I hope you'll come with me.
Things are picking up and I'm hard at work on book two! (Title to be released in a few months!)
Would you sign up for my newsletter to get the most up-to-date details? Recipients are always the first to know about book titles, developments, and... COVER REVEALS! That's right, there will be a cover reveal for book two in a few months and it's going to be EPIC!
